Sylvia G. Let’s Get Good.

Dear Diary

Would You Pay 1k for A Coach Bag??

What happened to Coach being the introduction to designer handbags?? Remember the steps of induction? First comes Doony & Bourke, then comes Coach, then comes Louis Vuitton. And for those of us that never could really get into Doony, it was just a basic signature Coach.

I’ll tell you what I think happened…and that is the Outlets KILLED the Coach bag. Coming from a town where every chick with a job has a Coach bag, I went into uber-high-gotta-have-it mode to escape from that group, I had to be BETTER than Coach.

And then it happened. First, Brianette sent me the link to the new Coach print. 48 Hours later, I saw tables full of Coach vintage print at Macy’s on sale for 40% off. I didn’t buy any, of course, because I’m a Louis Vuitton girl now, and I’ve got to tell you I am digging the committed relationship.

After thinking about the new Coach print and the out of the blue sale at Macy’s I began to think and wonder WHY could this be happening? Is Coach trying to get in where they fit in, during a time of economical turmoil? Are their stocks doing good? I mean, they ARE an American company, and with Barack Obama being our new leader, it will be hip to be American again. And didn’t LV say that their sales were only doing good in China? Interesting.

And so I logged on to the Coach.com site tonight, out of sheer curiousity, and saw this. A purple fringed Coach Bag for $1000.

Get outta here.

    $1000…for that?
    Booooo.
    Do over.
    Recall!

  2. Coach says:

wow. that is quite the bag. No, I would never pay even $30 for that bag. Looks like a pinata.

My just bought one of their exclusive ones that cost about 950$. She wanted a white patent leather bag and couldn’t find one at any of the designers such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Fendi, etc. She found one at coach and she loved it. As long as it makes her happy who cares, you guys need to get a life.

Stop worrying about petty stuff. It’s all relative. Someone who is able to buy $10,000 bags will think the one my mother bought was cheap. People who can buy $1000 bags will look at bags that cost 80 and 90$ cheap and people who can buy 90$ purses will look at 20$ as cheap. It can go on and on. It’s all relative.

So to answer you question, there are women who will buy $1000 coach bags. If they have the money, why shouldn’t they?
